Develon Wins Two Honours at CES 2024 Innovation Awards

Develon was honoured in two of the categories of the CES 2024 Innovation Awards.

These awards were announced at this year’s CES, the world’s largest electronics show, which took place in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, from 9 to 12 January 2024.

In the first category, Vehicle Technology and Advanced Mobility, Develon presented Smart Collision Mitigation with Sensor Fusion. This is an active safety system that detects objects around an excavator using the Sensor Fusion camera and radar. The excavator is equipped with four or more cameras that provide a 360-degree panoramic view. Thanks to AI technology, it can selectively detect people or objects.

It also uses three wide-angle radar sensors. With a 180-degree horizontal field of view to minimise blind spots and accurately measure the distance of detected objects. When a pedestrian or object is detected within the warning/danger zone, visual/audible warnings are activated and the excavator’s turning speed and driving speed are reduced and then stopped automatically to actively prevent accidents.

The incorporation of fusion technology considerably increases the accuracy of obstacle detection and the distance to the equipment compared to machines with a single sensor.

X-Agent System

Develon‘s X-Agent system took the prize in the second category, Mobile Devices, Accessories and Applications. X-Agent is a solution that improves the productivity and dexterity of operators of excavators, wheel loaders and articulated lorries.

X-Agent has an AI function that comprehensively analyses information. It analyses the status of the operator/equipment and the work plan to create an optimised route. This improves the productivity of unskilled workers by around 30 per cent. It also uses vision information for remote control. It extracts network-based meta-information and sends minimal information even in an incomplete network environment (2G, 3G). This enables trouble-free remote operation. As a product optimised for complex mechanical work, it can save labour, be environmentally friendly and save around 15% of energy.

Develon‘s portfolio of advanced technologies will be highlighted on the company’s stand at Intermat in Paris in April 2024, as part of an exhibition under the theme ‘Powered by Innovation’, which will include the first demonstration in Europe of the Develon Concept-X 2.0 autonomous construction equipment solution.
